“How do I guess at the future? Based on the omens of the present. The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Forget about the future, and live each day according to the teachings, confident that God loves his children. Each day, in itself, brings”
— Paolo Coelho, The Alchemist
I have been talking about not getting caught up in the HOW of my life because honestly I really don’t know how. I don’t know how I’ll arrive at my greatness or how I’ll be able to open the doors to unlock my future, all I know is that it is all open and ready for me to take it boldly and audaciously. Who am I to wonder about the future and ignore my present? I’d be a fool if I kept looking backwards, and not learning from my mistakes. I would be utterly misguided if I were to worry and stress about what has yet to happen while ignoring all of the joy of this present moment. It matters to me that I can sit here and spread love and light and channel forgiveness because the need for peace is paramount to me in this very moment. The thought that I have access to the joy and the peace in this very moment is a reassuring and comforting thing to me because the bliss of this moment is something I haven’t felt in a long time. The place in which I feel the most connected and in tune with the universe is on my yoga mat. Being connected to the mat and the universe opens me up to the flow of life. It doesn’t get more present than that.
I encourage all of you to pay attention to your blessings of this moment. Pay attention to the joy and the commitment of your life right now. The rise and fall of your breath, your lungs, your heart, your eyes and all that you have that makes you whole. The treasure of being able to pay kindness forward, the gift of being gracious, the freedom to exercise forgiveness, these things matter so much and I promise that when you are present to these things, your life will flow as freely as the ocean currents. What will you do today that will encourage you to stay present? How will you gift yourself the moment of being here and loving the here and now? How will you access your present and give thanks?
Your beautiful life awaits you. What are you waiting for? Namaste.
